Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. Shortening
  • 1 c. Packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 x Egg
  • 3/4 c. All-purpose flour*
  • 3/4 c. Finely minced Brazil nuts
  • 1 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1/4 tsp Salt

Directions

  1. If using self-rising flour omit baking pwdr and salt.
  2. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease square pan, 8 X 8 X 2 inches. Heat shortening in 1-1/2-qt saucepan over low heat till melted; remove from heat. Fold in brown sugar, vanilla and egg. Stir in remaining ingredients.
  3. Spread in pan. Bake 25 min. Cut into 2-inch squares while hot. 16 BROWNIES; 150 CALORIES PER BROWNIE.
