AMERICAN SHEPHERD’S PIE Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 to 1 1/2 pounds hamburger
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions (could use regular onion)
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon basil leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • Pinch cayenne or a few drops hot sauce
  • 1 (15 1/4 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained or two cups frozen corn
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 3 cups leftover mashed potatoes
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups shredded cheese (I use cheddar, you can use whatever you like)
