Sharing best practices for food blogs

Hi everyone

I'm Dan and my cooking/recipe blog is http://www.haggisandherring.com/

I do website work and technical and copy editing for a living, so I try and apply my trade to my hobby.

I use Blogger to host my blog and post updates using HootSuite to Twitter, Facebook, a Facebook page, LinkedIn and Google Buzz.

I publish a lead-up post on Sunday mornings and recipes on Wednesdays.

I also follow several cooking/recipe blogs and re-tweet/post links to interesting finds on days I don't post to my blog.

I've seen some great cooking blogs and would love to share ideas and hear your ideas about recipe writing styles, information architecture (how your blog is set up), how to make searching for recipes easier, and how you promote your blog.

I'm also available for recipe and blog copy editing.

Hi Dan, I am curious how you use linkedin for a food blog? I had thought it was mostly a business networking platform. I too would love to share ideas. Thanks

Re: Sharing best practices for food blogs

Hi Meynda

I'm probably not using LinkedIn very effectively, but still. I have my social networking sites connected so my blog posts are tweeted, and all of my tweets (including my daily non-blog-post tweets) and sent to the Haggis and Herring facebook page and my linkedIn profile.

I know they've gotten through to people because a few people have mentioned they've seen recipes via LinkedIn, There are a few people who I only have listed on LinkedIn and not on facebook, so it extends the reach a bit.

I don't really use LinkedIn otherwise - I probably should, but there are just so many social networking sites, my head spins if I can't coordinate them.

How do you use social networking sites?
