Spelt Buttermilk Biscuits

My go-to biscuit recipe. Great with dinner or turn them into a breakfast sandwich.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups white spelt flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp cream of tartar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup butter
  • ¾ cup buttermilk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450.
  2. Stir dry ingredients and cut in butter until mixture resembles course crumbs.
  3. Add buttermilk all at once and mix until dough clings together.
  4. On a floured surface, knead dough 10-12 times and roll to ½ inch thick.
  5. Cut into circles and bake 10-12 min.
