%20and%20they%20have%20gladly%20accepted%20mine%20and%20I%20am%20very%20lucky%20in%20that%20aspect.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOf%20course%20some%20of%20those%20traditions%20simply%20cannot%20be%20done%20when%20you%20have%20a%20blended%20family%20simply%20due%20to%20the%20schedule.%20And%20that%E2%80%99s%20okay.%20Over%20the%20years%20I%20have%20come%20to%20focus%20on%205%20holiday%20traditions%20that%20are%20easy%20and%20important%20to%20me%20and%20if%20the%20other%20ones%20don%E2%80%99t%20happen%20that%E2%80%99s%20okay.%20What%20are%20those%20five?%20Open%20one%20gift%20Christmas%20Eve%20(always%20pajamas),%20Lifesaver%20Book%20in%20the%20stocking,%20Pizza%20on%20Christmas%20Eve,%20a%20new%20ornament%20every%20year%20(which%20MDP%20and%20I%20usually%20get%20from%20our%20travels),%20and%20frosted%20sugar%20cookies.%20Do%20I%20want%20a%20gingerbread%20house?%20Of%20course%20but%20this%20year%20it%E2%80%99s%20not%20happening,%20just%20no%20time%20(I%20may%20do%20THIS%20again).%20Did%20I%20want%20to%20make%20a%20tray%20full%20of%20a%20variety%20of%20cookies?%20Sure%20but%20reality%20is%20that%20we%20don%E2%80%99t%20have%20the%20kids%20for%20very%20long%20this%20time%20and%20so%20they%20would%20probably%20just%20go%20to%20waste,%20and%20again%20I%20don%E2%80%99t%20really%20have%20the%20time.%20I%E2%80%99ll%20probably%20make%20some%20fudge%20for%20my%20dad.%20I%20want%20to%20go%20look%20at%20lights%20but%20it%E2%80%99s%20okay%20if%20it%20doesn%E2%80%99t%20happen.%20We%20will%20have%20Christmas%20dinner%20but%20this%20year%20due%20to%20the%20schedule%20we%20will%20also%20be%20having%20Christmas%20Eve%20Brunch%20as%20well%20since%20the%20teens%20go%20back%20to%20their%20mother%E2%80%99s%20house%20at%209am%20on%20Christmas%20day%E2%80%A6and%20no%20teen%20wants%20to%20wake%20up%20early.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELike%20I%20said%20I%20did%20want%20to%20make%20a%20gingerbread%20house%20but%20I%20lack%20time%20and%20motivation%20for%20that.%20Enter%20Gingerbread%20House%20Bark%20which%20honestly%20was%20really%20fun,%20way%20easier%20than%20the%20house,%20and%20way%20tastier%20than%20a%20gingerbread%20house.%20I%20saw%20a%20version%20of%20this%20a%20few%20years%20ago%20in%20I%20think%20Good%20Housekeeping%20magazine%20using%20white%20chocolate%20and%20crushed%20up%20gingersnaps,%20I%20bookmarked%20it%20and%20forgot%20about%20it.%20While%20I%20love%20ginger%20cookies%20with%20white%20chocolate%20I%20love%20the%20Gingerbread%20Chocolate%20Bar%20that%20Theo%20Chocolate%20puts%20out%20each%20year%20at%20this%20time%20and%20decided%20it%20would%20be%20way%20more%20festive%20to%20use%20that.%20If%20you%20can%E2%80%99t%20find%20something%20like%20that%20then%20just%20use%20milk%20or%20white%20chocolate.%20You%20can%20choose%20whatever%20candy%20you%20want%20on%20your%20house.%20I%20was%20sadistic%20and%20used%20actual%20gingerbread%20men%20which%20I%20will%20feel%20bad%20breaking%20them%20apart%20for%20the%20bark%20but%20hey%20you%20are%20going%20to%20eat%20them%20anyway,%20right?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EP.S.%20Happy%20Hanukakah%20to%20my%20readers%20who%20are%20currently%20celebrating!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EGingerbread%20House%20Bark%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoyal%20icing%20or%20any%20white%20frosting%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUsing%20a%20microwave%20safe%20bowl,%20break%20the%20chocolate%20into%20pieces.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMicrowave%20the%20chocolate%20in%2030%20second%20intervals,%20stirring%20in%20between,%20until%20smooth.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20the%20melted%20chocolate%20onto%20a%20sheet%20pan%20lined%20with%20wax%20paper%20an%20smooth%20out%20with%20a%20spatula.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMoving%20kind%20of%20quickly%E2%80%A6especially%20if%20your%20kitchen%20is%20cold,%20add%20the%20gingerbread%20men%20first.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThen%20add%20candy%20of%20your%20choice.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20using%20frosting,%20pipe%20on%20after%20everything%20else%20is%20in%20place.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20in%20fridge%20for%20about%2030%20minutes%20for%20it%20to%20set%20up.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBreak%20into%20pieces%20and%20enjoy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPin%20It%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
