Ingredients

  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1/2 c. chunky peanut butter
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. orange juice

Directions

  1. Measure flour, baking soda, baking pwdr and salt into a sifter. Cream shortening, brown sugar and granulated sugar together. Add in peanut butter and mix. Add in egg and beat till fluffy. Sift in flour mix, adding alternately with orange juice. Blend well to make a stiff dough. Refrigeratetill hard sufficient to handle. Roll dough a tsp. at a time into a ball. Place 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet, flatten crisscross fashion with a fork which has been put in a bowl of granulated sugar. Bake in moderate oven (375 degrees) for 12 min or possibly till golden. Remove from cookie sheet. Makes about 5 dozen.
