- Glo Haven peaches (a large âregularâ yellow variety): 1/2 bushel
- White County peaches (a super beautiful and super delicious white variety): 8 quarts
- nectarines: 8 quarts
- one seedless watermelon

.%20It%E2%80%99s%20going%20to%20be%20a%20Peach-palooza!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20recently%20posted%20about%20the%20early%20arrival%20of%20five%20pounds%20of%20peaches%20off%20our%20tiny,%20tiny%20redhaven%20peach%20tree.%20%20%20%20I%20made%20a%20fantastic%20peach%20marmalade%20from%20that%20batch%20(will%20share%20that%20recipe%20soon).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut,%20The%20Hubs%20needed%20more%20fruit%20and%20jam.%20%20%20%20So%20last%20weekend%20we%20were%20off%20on%20a%20foodie%20adventure,%20traveling%20forty%20miles%20to%20a%20great%20orchard:%20%20%20Livesay%20Orchards.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20some%20free%20samples,%20we%20came%20home%20with%20the%20following:%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20were%20tempted%20to%20buy%20some%20over-ripe%20tomatoes%20for%20freezing%20sauces,%20but%20I%20nixed%20that%20idea.%20%20%20I%20was%20convinced%20I%20would%20have%20my%20hands%20full%20putting%20up%20all%20of%20this%20produce.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20feel%20another%20palooza%20coming%20on.%20%20%20This%20time%20it%20will%20be%20peaches%20(and%20nectarines),%20not%20sweet%20potatoes.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20made%20LOTS%20of%20jam,%20marmalade,%20preserves,%20one%20pie,%20and%20froze%20a%20bit.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20first%20jam%20I%20want%20to%20share%20with%20you%20comes%20from%20one%20of%20my%20vintage%20cookbooks:%20%20%20%20Farm%20Journal%E2%80%99s%20Freezing%20&%20Canning%20Cookbook%20which%20boasts%20%E2%80%9CPrized%20Recipes%20from%20the%20Farms%20of%20America.%E2%80%9D%20%20%20%20%20This%20is%20one%20from%20my%20grandmother%E2%80%99s%20archives.%20%20%20This%20book%20covers%20everything%20from%20basic%20recipes%20for%20preserves%20to%20canning%20meat.%20%20%20(Seriously?%20%20%20Someone%20is%20%20selling%20new%20copies%20on%20Amazon%20for%20upwards%20of%20$100!%20%20%20Mine%20is%20like%20new.%20%20%20Does%20that%20count?)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20found%20a%20super%20easy%20and%20good%20recipe%20for%20peach%20honey%20here.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPeach%20Honey%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFrom%20Farm%20Journal%E2%80%99s%20Freezing%20&%20Canning%20Cookbook%20with%20a%20few%20notes%20and%20updates.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E1%20large%20orange%20(This%20needs%20to%20be%20seedless,%20so%20I%20used%20a%20large%20organic%20navel%20orange.)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E12%20large%20peaches,%20peeled*%20and%20pitted%20and%20sliced%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESugar%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EQuarter%20the%20orange%20but%20do%20not%20peel%20it;%20you%20might%20want%20to%20remove%20some%20of%20the%20pith.%20%20%20%20Put%20the%20orange%20quarters%20and%20the%20peaches%20in%20a%20food%20processor.%20%20%20I%20had%20to%20do%20this%20step%20in%20two%20batches.%20%20%20Pulse%20until%20chopped.%20%20%20Do%20not%20puree%20the%20mixture.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20to%20a%20large%20(2%20quart)%20%20measuring%20cup.%20%20%20Measure%20fruit%20mixture.%20%20%20%20You%20will%20need%20to%20add%20one%20cup%20of%20sugar%20for%20every%20cup%20of%20fruit.%20%20%20For%20example,%20I%20ended%20up%20with%208%20cups%20of%20fruit%20so%20I%20used%208%20cups%20(OMG!)%20of%20sugar.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPlace%20in%20a%20large%20saucepan%20or%20kettle.%20%20%20Bring%20to%20a%20boil,%20stirring%20constantly,%20and%20then%20reduce%20heat%20to%20a%20simmer.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESimmer%20and%20stir%20often.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECook%20approximately%2020%20minutes,%20or%20until%20of%20desired%20consistency.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELadle%20into%20sterilized%20hot%20jars%20to%20within%201/8%E2%80%B3%20of%20jar%20top.%20%20%20Wipe%20rims%20and%20add%20lids%20and%20rings.%20%20%20Tighten.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EProcess%20in%20water%20bath%20for%2010%20minutes.%20%20%20Remove%20from%20bath%20and%20let%20set%20undisturbed.%20%20%20Listen%20for%20the%20pings%20that%20your%20jars%20are%20sealing.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3E*The%20best%20way%20to%20peel%20a%20peach%20is%20to%20submerge%20them%20in%20boiling%20water%20for%20about%2030%20seconds.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBlanch%20slightly.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERemove%20to%20a%20water%20bath%20and%20then%20they%20easily%20slip%20out%20of%20their%20skins.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIce%20water%20bath.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20made%20this%20with%20both%20the%20white%20and%20red%20peaches.%20%20%20I%20had%20some%20of%20the%20white%20peach%20honey%20this%20morning%20on%20some%20fresh%20Challah%20bread.%20%20%20Delicious!%20%20%20The%20cookbook%20states%20to%20%E2%80%9CTry%20it%20on%20grapefruit%20or%20toast%E2%80%94makes%20winter%20breakfast%20taste%20like%20spring.%E2%80%9D%20%20%20%20Hmmm%E2%80%94I%20wonder%20how%20it%20would%20be%20drizzled%20across%20a%20slightly%20broiled%20grapefruit?%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhite%20peach%20and%20red%20peach%20honey%20(in%20my%20fairy%20garden).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStay%20tuned%20for%20our%20Peach-palooza%20as%20I%20put%20up%20the%20rest%20of%20this%20bounty!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAlso,%20please%20remember%20that%20the%20Colorado%20Wild%20Fire%20Bake%20Sale%20(hosted%20by%20Erin%20at%20Dinners,%20Dishes,%20and%20Desserts)%20starts%20today.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDon%E2%80%99t%20forget%20to%20check%20out%20my%20nutella%20cookies%20that%20will%20be%20up%20for%20sale!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELet%20the%20bidding%20begin.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAnd%20for%20
