Kinda Sorta Shepherds Pie

This simple and delicious recipe puts a new spin on the all time favorite, shepherds pie.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 jar beef gravy
  • 1 can corn
  • 4 potatoes
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 large spoonfuls sour cream
  • milk to taste

Directions

  1. boil the potatoes until very soft.
  2. cook the beef until browned in a large skillet.
  3. stir the gravy and corn into the beef. simmer, stirring occasionally.
  4. strain the potatoes. put them in a mixing bowl and mix on medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth and all chunks are gone. add the butter and sour cream about 1 minute into mixing. add milk until the mashed potatoes are as creamy as you want them to be.
  5. put the corn, beef, and gravy mixture into a casserole dish and smooth out with a spatual.
  6. put the potatoes on top of the beef, corn, and gravy in the casserole dish. smooth out with a spatula.
  7. brush the top of the potatoes with egg. do not use the whole egg. just use as much as you want.
  8. broil on 350 degree heat for approximately 10 minutes, or until there is a golden brown crust on the top of the potatoes.
