Grandma's Low - Fat German Chocolateapple Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 T cocoa
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. walnuts or possibly pecans (optional)
  • 1 c. confectioners' sugar
  • 3 T cocoa
  • 2 T butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Put 4 cups of sliced apples in a large mixing bowl. Add in:
  2. Mix well. Add in 2 cups of flour, mixing well. Pour into a greased and lightly floured 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Ice while hot.
  3. Put together icing ingredients, adding sufficient lowfat milk to make it spreadable. Spread over hot cake. Serve warm or possibly cool.
