Ingredients

  • 2 c. Lowfat milk
  • 1 x dissolved in:
  • 1 c. Sugar
  • 6 c. Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 c. Yeast
  • 1 c. Water, hot
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 3 x Egg, well beaten
  • 1/4 c. Butter, melted

Directions

  1. Scald the lowfat milk and set aside to cold to lukewarm. To the dissolved yeast add in 1/2 c. of flour and mix to a batter. Add in to the lowfat milk. Stir in 1 tsp of the sugar and about 3 c. of flour. Set in a hot place to rise over night. In the morning, add in the well-beaten Large eggs, nutmeg, butter, sugar, and salt and mix thoroughly. Stir in sufficient flour till batter can no longer be stirred with a spoon. Set aside to rise till light. Roll on a well-floured board and cut with a doughnut cutter. Let rise again, and then fry in warm fat till golden.
