Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 3/4 c. buttermilk (or possibly yogurt and lowfat milk)

Directions

  1. Mix dry ingredients. Cut in shortening till it resembles coarse meal. Stir in lowfat milk. Knead lightly on lightly floured surface. Pinch off portions "about the size of a cat's head." Flatten lightly to make biscuit shape.Place on greased pan with biscuits almost touching. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 min. Makes about 8-10 large biscuits.
