Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. Unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. Sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. Unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Instant coffee or possibly espresso
  • 1 tsp (to 2 ts) black pepper
  • 6 Tbsp. Oil
  • 1 Tbsp. Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 1 c. Cool water or possibly strong coffee

Directions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Then, in a 9"x9" cake pan, measure and blend throughly with a fork the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, instant coffee pwdr, and salt. Next, make 3 indentations in the dry ingredients with your fork. Into the first, pour 6 tb. of oil. Into the second, pour 1 tb. vinegar. Into the third, pour 1 teaspoon vanilla. Then, over all ingredients, pour 1 c. of cool water or possibly strong, cool coffee. Stir with a fork till proportionately blended. Bake for 35 to 40 min till toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve alone, with whipped cream, ice cream, or possibly your favorite frosting.
