Organic ingredients (many actually grown on-site), healthy and flavorful dishes, and an ever-changing seasonal menu... Sounds like lunch to me! And today it was.
Dining with several members of our fun San Diego Food Blogger group, today we took an inside peek at Brian Malarkey's Green Acre restaurant at the Campus Pointe location.
A hidden gem located just minutes from the bustling UTC mall or Scripps Hospital in San Diego (off of Genesee), Green Acre shares residence with several Bio Research, Medical and Corporate Wellness firms and brings a sense of balance to lunch and happy hour (Check Site for hours).

,%20healthy%20and%20flavorful%20dishes,%20and%20an%20ever-changing%20seasonal%20menu...%20Sounds%20like%20lunch%20to%20me!%20%20And%20today%20it%20was.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDining%20with%20several%20members%20of%20our%20fun%20San%20Diego%20Food%20Blogger%20group,%20today%20we%20took%20an%20inside%20peek%20at%20Brian%20Malarkey's%20Green%20Acre%20restaurant%20at%20the%20Campus%20Pointe%20location.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20hidden%20gem%20located%20just%20minutes%20from%20the%20bustling%20UTC%20mall%20or%20Scripps%20Hospital%20in%20San%20Diego%20(off%20of%20Genesee),%20Green%20Acre%20shares%20residence%20with%20several%20Bio%20Research,%20Medical%20and%20Corporate%20Wellness%20firms%20and%20brings%20a%20sense%20of%20balance%20to%20lunch%20and%20happy%20hour%20(Check%20Site%20for%20hours).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENot%20a%20restaurant%20you%20will%20stumble%20upon%20unless%20you%20are%20visiting%20one%20of%20the%20other%20businesses%20in%20the%20complex,%20Green%20Acre%20is%20definitely%20worth%20seeking%20out%20if%20you%20are%20in%20the%20area.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20an%20imaginative%20and%20rustic%20decor,%20Green%20Acre%20boasts%20dark%20woods%20and%20warm%20hues%20in%20both%20indoor%20and%20outdoor%20seating.%20%20Catching%20my%20eye%20were%20the%20creative%20spaces%20outside%20featuring%20tables%20surrounded%20by%20wood%20which%20while%20totally%20open,%20lent%20a%20sense%20of%20privacy%20to%20the%20diners.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EContaining%20several%20meeting%20and%20banquet%20rooms,%20Green%20Acre%20makes%20your%20event%20more%20than%20just%20business%20with%20over%2020k%20square%20feet%20of%20combined%20meeting%20and%20event%20spaces,%20a%20private%20dining%20room,%20chef's%20table,%20an%20event%20lawn%20and%20billiards%20room.%20(Personally%20I%20wanted%20to%20draw%20all%20over%20the%20super%20cool%20glass%20white%20board%20wall%20in%20the%20upstairs%20meeting%20room!).%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBut%20for%20everyday%20diners%20Green%20Acre%20offers%20a%20number%20of%20seating%20spaces%20in%20addition%20to%20a%20%22general%20store%22%20with%20several%20to-go%20options.%20%20I've%20read%20the%20Happy%20Hours%20are%20bustling%20and%20fun,%20and%20our%20lunch%20proved%20fun%20and%20tasty%20as%20well.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWith%20an%20on-site%20garden,%20the%20restaurant%20uses%20as%20many%20organic%20and%20local%20produce%20options%20as%20possible%20and%20the%20flatbreads,%20salads%20and%20sandwiches%20all%20boasted%20beautiful%20greens%20and%20vegetables%20along%20with%20a%20few%20edible%20flower%20petals%20thrown%20in%20for%20color.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStarting%20with%20meal%20of%20the%20Root%20Fries%20(crispy%20and%20seasoned%20irresistibly%20with%20salt,%20manchego%20and%20a%20touch%20of%20aleppo%20pepper),%20the%20platter%20also%20included%20little%20jars%20of%20pickled%20peppers,%20pineapple%20and%20beets.%20%20In%20my%20opinion...%20worth%20a%20visit%20just%20for%20these%20fries!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWorking%20together%20our%20group%20of%20bloggers%20tackled%20the%20menu%20to%20order%20different%20dishes%20to%20get%20a%20taste%20of%20as%20much%20as%20possible,%20and%20started%20with%20an%20array%20of%20flatbreads.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELa%20Mesa%20Flat%20Bread%20-%20made%20gluten-freeOf%20the%20Mushroom%20(Garlic,%20Cremini,%20Burrata,%20Truffle%20Oil),%20Fig%20(Shaft's%20Bleu,%20Arugula,%20Prosciutto),%20and%20La%20Mesa%20(BBQ%20Chicken,%20Red%20Onion,%20Gruyere),%20my%20hat%20tips%20to%20the%20Fig.%20%20Simply%20bursting%20with%20sweetness%20and%20contrasting%20with%20the%20cheese%20and%20arugula,%20this%20will%20be%20my%20meal%20of%20choice%20on%20my%20next%20visit.%20%20Note%20that%20all%20flat%20breads%20may%20be%20made%20gluten-free,%20and%20we%20made%20our%20BBQ%20Chicken%20flat%20bread%20as%20such%20and%20it%20received%20thumbs%20up%20all%20around.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELunch%20for%20me%20included%20the%20Goddess%20Salad%20filled%20with%20fresh%20organic%20greens%20and%20site-grown%20organic%20herbs%20and%20pea%20shoots%20along%20with%20plump%20juicy%20cherry%20tomatoes,%20capers%20and%20chevre.%20%20While%20I%20ordered%20mine%20with%20a%20side%20of%20quinoa%20as%20my%20protein,%20more%20mainstream%20proteins%20include%20shrimp,%20steak,%20tuna%20and%20chicken.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECrispy%20Kale%20ChipsWe%20also%20tried%20the%20Corn%20Cob%20(Avocado,%20chicken,%20bleu,%20bacon%20and%20egg)%20and%20the%20Nice!%20(Olive,%20farm%20egg,%20albacore,%20beans,%20tomatoes,%20taters),%20which%20I'm%20told%20is%20one%20of%20the%20most%20popular%20items%20on%20the%20menu.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMore%20menu%20choices%20include%20various%20Paninis,%20Burgers%20(including%20a%20vegetarian%20Black%20Bean%20Burger),%20Soups,%20Chili%20and%20multiple%20sides.%20%20A%20favorite%20at%20the%20table%20was%20the%20Kale%20Chips...%20nice%20and%20crispy.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESo%20next%20time%20you're%20in%20the%20area%20shopping%20at%20UTC,%20visiting%20the%20hospital,%20attending%20UCSD,%20or%20for%20whatever%20reason%20brings%20you,%20take%20a%20break%20at%20Green%20Acre.%20%20Follow%20Campus%20Pointe%20to%20the%20end%20of%20the%20road%20and%20bear%20left%20(look%20for%20Green%20Acre%20sign),%20or%20if%20you%20are%20in%20the%20front%20of%20the%20Eli%20Lilly%20building,%20enter%20and%20walk%20through%20to%20the%20back%20where%20you%20will%20find%20Green%20Acre.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThanks%20to%20Green%20Acre%20for%20hosting%20our%20lunch%20today...%20I%20had%20not%20been%20familiar%20with%20the%20restaurant%20before%20this%20visit%20and%20I'm%20so%20happy%20to%20have%20a%20place%20away%20from%20the%20bustle%20on%20our%20next%20UTC%20mall%20visit.%20%20See%20you%20soon!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
