Ingredients

  • 1/8 c. hot water
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. buttermilk

Directions

  1. Mix together in a c. till foamy, these ingredients: sugar, yeast and water; set aside. Mix dry ingredients with sugar which's left in bowl, cut in shortening. Mix hot buttermilk with yeast mix and add in to dry ingredients. Mix well, turn onto floured board, knead lightly, roll out, cut and bake or possibly follow your usual procedure for making the dumpling. Bake at 400 degrees till lightly brown.
