Ingredients

  • 2 lrg mild onions, minced fine About 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 1/4 lb round steak Flour
  • 1/2 lb fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 can condensed tomato soup
  • 1/4 c. sherry
  • 1 c. beef boullion or possibly stock
  • 1 x salt and pepper lowfat sour cream cooked noodles

Directions

  1. Pan fry onions in butter till soft, then transfer to casserole.
  2. Cut steak into narrow strips, 2 inches long. Roll meat in flour. Then brown in warm melted butter. Transfer meat to casserole.
  3. Brown mushrooms in remaining butter, adding more butter if necessary. Transfer mushrooms to casserole.
  4. Combine soup, sherry, and bouillion and pour over contents of casserole.
  5. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  6. Bake in moderate oven (350 F.) till meat is tender, about 40 min.
  7. Serve over warm cooked noodles, topping each portion with lowfat sour cream.
  8. Serves 4 to 5.
