A Boon To The Bride (Ice Box Rolls)

Ingredients

  • 1 c. lowfat milk, scalded and cooled
  • 2 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 1/4 c. lukewarm water
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 c. light cream
  • 2 whole large eggs or possibly 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 6 c. flour

Directions

  1. Add in sugar and shortening to lowfat milk and let dissolve. Add in cream and allow to cool. Add in yeast dissolved in water, and then lightly beaten large eggs. Add in flour, 5 cups, and beat well. Let stand 20 min. Add in 2 cups flour with salt. Cover and place in refrigerator.Form into rolls 1 1/2 hrs before ready to bake. Bake 20 min at 425F.
