.%20Now%20I%20am%20home%20and%20I%E2%80%99d%20like%20to%20pass%20along%20my%20Carmel%20restaurant%20trifecta.%20Breakfast,%20lunch%20and%20dinner%20in%20Carmel,%20California.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECarmel:%20Breakfast%20Lunch%20Dinner%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBREAKFAST:%20La%20Bicylette%20Restaurant%20Dolores%20St%20at%207th%20NW%20Corner%20%20831-622-9899%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20walked%20into%20La%20Bicyclette%20knowing%20it%20was%20the%20place%20for%20savory%20baked%20goods%20in%20Carmel.%20That%E2%80%99s%20because%20we%20had%20been%20by%20earlier%20in%20the%20week%20as%20part%20of%20Carmel%20Food%20Tours.%20The%20reason%20I%20knew%20there%20would%20be%20quality%20things%20from%20the%20oven%20is%20because%20I%20had%20already%20been%20introduced%20to%20pizza%20from%20the%20restaurant%E2%80%99s%20wood%20burning%20oven.%20The%20pizza%20was%20great.%20The%20bread%20from%20that%20oven%20was%20great%20too.%20I%20expected%20that.%20There%20is%20nothing%20like%20bread,%20freshly%20baked%20in%20a%20wood%20fired%20oven.%20What%20I%20didn%E2%80%99t%20know%20was%20what%20a%20wood%20fueled%20flame%20could%20do%20for%20baked%20eggs.%20I%20came%20back%20for%20the%20eggs%20and%20can%20honestly%20say%20I%20rate%20their%20breakfast%20as%20a%20must%20have%20on%20your%20next%20trip%20to%20Carmel.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECarmel:%20Breakfast%20Lunch%20Dinner%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELUNCH:%20Casanova%20Restaurant%205th%20Avenue%20between%20Mission%20&%20San%20Carlos%20831-625-0501%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOn%20our%20last%20day%20in%20Carmel%20we%20checked%20out%20Casanova,%20billed%20as%20the%20most%20%E2%80%9Cromantic%E2%80%9D%20restaurant%20in%20Carmel.%20It%E2%80%99s%20a%20beautiful,%20antique-filled%20cottage%20with%20rough-hewn%20tables%20tucked%20into%20nooks,%20fire-lit%20rooms%20and%20al%20fresco%20patios.%20The%20diversity%20of%20interesting%20objects%20and%20the%20attention%20to%20detail%20is%20part%20of%20what%20makes%20makes%20this%20restaurant%20so%20%E2%80%9Cromantic%E2%80%9D.%20However%20this%20artful%20little%20retreat%20was%20once%20nothing%20but%20a%20rundown%20shack%20at%20the%20edge%20of%20the%20village.%20The%20renovation%20from%20shack%20to%20restaurant%20may%20feel%20a%20bit%20contrived%20with%20its%20mismatched%20this%20and%20that,%20but%20I%20promise%20you%20you%20will%20feel%20transported%20once%20you%20settle%20in%20and%20take%20in%20the%20ambiance.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThe%20back%20room%20is%20dominated%20by%20a%20fireplace.%20Which%20is%20a%20good%20thing.%20Carmel%20can%20be%20foggy.%20Especially%20in%20the%20summertime.%20I%20suggest%20that%20lunch%20at%20Casanova%20is%20a%20lovely%20way%20to%20while%20away%20the%20gray%E2%80%93%20a%20blazing%20fire,%20a%20plate%20of%20gnocchi%20and%20a%20glass%20of%20wine.%20By%20the%20time%20you%E2%80%99ve%20finished%20your%20leisurely%20lunch,%20chances%20are%20good%20that%20fog%20will%20have%20burned%20off%20and%20a%20sunshine-filled%20afternoon%20awaits%20you.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAbout%20Casanova%20from%20their%20website:%20%E2%80%9CWe%20revisit%20traditional%20fare%20of%20those%20regions%20of%20Europe%20that%20are%20influenced%20by%20the%20healthy%20and%20Mediterranean%20diet.%20Because%20of%20our%20Belgian%20background%20we%20also%20include%20tasty%20traditional%20dishes%20such%20as%20%E2%80%9Cmoules%20frites%E2%80%9D,%20%E2%80%9Cpomme%20frites%E2%80%9D%20and%20great%20Belgian%20desserts.%20The%20menu%20is%20designed%20to%20create%20a%20festive%20and%20sharing%20experience%20at%20the%20table.%20Our%20portions%20are%20generous%20and%20whenever%20possible%20we%20bring%20to%20the%20table%20the%20dishes%20in%20which%20the%20food%20was%20prepared.%20We%20encourage%20sharing%20and%20creating%20a%20fun%20ambiance%20at%20the%20table.%20Our%20cuisine%20is%20rustic%20yet%20very%20elegant%E2%80%9D.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECarmel:%20Breakfast%20Lunch%20Dinner%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDINNER:%20Mundaka%20San%20Carlos%20Street%20between%20Ocean%20&%207th%20Avenue%20831-624-7400%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20was%20my%20favorite%20meal%20in%20Carmel.%20Mundaka.%20It%E2%80%99s%20a%20Spanish%20style%20tapas%20restaurant%20in%20the%20heart%20of%20the%20village.%20It%E2%80%99s%20not%20too%20big,%20so%20it%20feels%20casual%20and%20friendly.%20The%20menu%20is%20varied%20with%20plenty%20of%20choices,%20but%20its%20not%20so%20large%20that%20it%20isn%E2%80%99t%20easily%20navigable.%20Our%20server%20was%20very%20helpful%20in%20guiding%20us%20through%20our%20choices.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20a%20tapas%20place.%20Most%20of%20the%20items%20are%20served%20small%20plate%20style.%20Though%20there%20is%20paella%20for%20two%20and%20a%2024%20oz%20rib-eye,%20if%20you%20prefer%20to%20have%20traditional%20%E2%80%9Cmain%20courses%E2%80%9D.%20We%20stuck%20to%20tapas%20however.%20If%20you%20know%20and%20love%20Spanish%20tapas%20like%20I%20do%20you%E2%80%99ll%20be%20pleased%20to%20see%20all%20of%20your%20favorites:%20Potatoes%20bravas,%20tortilla%20espa%C3%B1ola%20and%20marinated%20olives%20(aceitunas)%20that%20flood%20your%20mouth%20with%20flavor.%20They%20also%20serve%20definitive%20Mediterranean%20white%20anchovies%20with%20garlic%20chips%20(bocarones)%20and%20a%20delicious%20duck%20breast%20escabeche.%20Two%20more%20classic%20dishes%20that%20keep%20this%20menu%20from%20feeling%20mundane.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20the%20more%20adventurous%20there%20are%20also%20unexpectedly%20innocent-looking%20bites%20that%20are%20new%20and%20creative%20enough%20to%20make%20the%20evening%20a%20culinary%20adventure.%20Standouts%20include:%20mozzarella%20served%20with%20roasted%20Catalan%20%E2%80%9Cugly%E2%80%9D%20tomatoes,%20clams%20(almejas)%20and%20%20chorizo%20in%20a%20shrimp%20broth%20that%20shoots%20paprika%20smoke%20out%20of%20your%20nostrils%20(in%20a%20good%20way)%20and%20crunchy,%20fried%20garbanzo%20beans%20judiciously%20dusted%20with%20truffle%20salt%E2%80%93%20a%20seemingly%20simple%20preparation%20that%20will%20thrill%20you.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERelated%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
