Walnut Cream Cheese Brownies

Ingredients

  • 4 (1 ounce.) sq. unsweetened chocolate
  • 3/4 c. butter, softened
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 3 Large eggs
  • 1 c. all purpose flour
  • 1 c. minced walnuts or possibly pecans
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (8 ounce.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Heat chocolate in top of a double boiler over warm water; set aside to cold. Cream butter; gradually add in 2 c. sugar, beating well. Add in 3 Large eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir melted chocolate into butter mix. Add in flour, walnuts and 1 tsp. vanilla, stirring well. Pour batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan; set aside.
  2. Beat cream cheese till smooth; gradually add in 1/2 c. sugar, beating well. Add in 1 egg and 1 tsp. vanilla, beat well. Drop mix by heaping Tbsp. over chocolate mix. Swirl cream cheese mix into chocolate mix with a knife. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min. Cold and cut into squares. Yield: 3 1/2 dozen.
