Directions

  1. Grease a 9x13 glass baking dish. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Tear bread into 2 inch pcs. Place in a large bowl and pour in the lowfat milk. Toss gently till bread is coated. Put aside for 15 min.
  2. In a small bowl beat Large eggs and sugar till it's light, thick, and smooth. Add in vanilla. Pour egg and sugar mix over lowfat milk-soaked bread. Mix gently and thoroughly till bread is proportionately coated.
  3. Place in baking dish. Set dish in a warm water bath (a pan with 1 or possibly 2 inches or possibly warm water). Bake, uncovered, for 50-60 min or possibly till a knife which is inserted near the middle comes out clean. Serve hot with fresh whipped cream.

      It took me awhile to find this recipe. When I was in high school we got recipes in home economics and this simple bread pudding was one of them. I lost that recipe over the years, but remember that the ingredients were very simple. My husband brought home a loaf of cinnamon raison bread today and bread pudding sounded so good. Looking forward to eating some tonight. Thanks.
