Directions

  1. Stir together bread crumbs, 1 tsp. salt and pepper to taste. Layer half the tomato slices in a lightly buttered 2 qt casserole dish. Top with half of the onions, half of the bread crumbs, half of the chives and cheese. Season with salt and pepper. Repeat the layers ending with the remaining cheese.
  2. Drizzle with melted butter. Bake uncovered in a preheated oven at 375 degrees about 45 min or possibly till the cheese is golden and bubbling.
