Ingredients

  • 1 lb Pitted dates (about 70)
  • 70 x Pecan halves (about 3 ounce.)
  • 1/4 c. Shortening
  • 3/4 c. Brown sugar
  • 1 x Egg
  • 1 1/4 c. Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking pwdr
  • 1/2 tsp Soda
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 c. Dairy lowfat sour cream
  •     Frosting: see below

Directions

  1. Stuff dates with nut halves. Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar.
  2. Beat in egg. Sift dry ingredients together. Add in alternately with lowfat sour cream to creamed mix. Stir in dates, gently. Drop onto greased cookie sheets
  3. (1 date per cookie). Bake at 400 deg. for 8-10 min. Top with Golden brown Frosting.
  4. Golden brown FROSTING:1/2 c. margarine or possibly butter3 c. sifted powdered sugar3/4 tsp. vanilla3 Tbsp. water (about)
  5. Lightly brown butter. Remove from heat and gradually beat in sugar and vanilla. Slowly add in water till of spreading consistency.
