- (Makes 2 cups)
- 1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar

- 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsulphured molasses (black treacle in the UK)
- 1 tablespoon brandy, optional
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
