I haven't had steamed artichokes in years and years. As a treat, my grandparents used to serve them with butter. I loved it. I don't recall what occasion it was served on, or if it was just a seasonal thing.I've cooked/tasted this recipe!

%20%20I%20have%20to%20admit,%20when%20evening%20gets%20here,%20I'm%20about%20done%20for.%20%20I%20am%20a%20true%20morning%20person%20-%20probably%20in%20a%20way%20many%20people%20would%20say%20there%20is%20something%20wrong%20with%20me!%20%20All%20I%20need%20for%20sleep%20seems%20to%20be%20about%206%20good%20hours.%20%20If%20I%20am%20in%20bed%20by%209%20(which%20I%20am%20most%20nights),%20then%20I'm%20awake%20by%203%20or%203:30.%20%20But,%20I'm%20getting%20off%20topic%20here!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20had%20made%20a%20list%20of%20things%20I%20wanted%20to%20make%20while%20Grumpy%20was%20gone.%20%20One%20was%20the%20Quick%20&%20Easy%20Philly%20Cheesesteak.%20%20Another%20was%20steamed%20artichokes.%20%20I%20did%20make%20those%20two%20items,%20but%20nothing%20else%20that%20was%20on%20my%20list!%20%20I%20did%20however%20make%20a%20couple%20of%20things%20not%20on%20my%20list!%20%20I%20made%20the%20Dark%20Chocolate%20Almond%20Bars,%20Blackberry%20Parfaits,%20and%20Blackberry%20Lemon%20Ricotta%20Muffins%20(I%20won't%20be%20posting%20the%20muffins%20but%20you%20can%20find%20the%20recipe%20and%20photo%20on%20Two%20Peas%20and%20Their%20Pod%20blog!).%20%20Both%20the%20bars%20and%20muffins%20were%20fabulous%20and%20the%20parfaits%20were%20a%20great%20breakfast%20for%20two%20mornings!%20%20My%20lucky%20co-workers%20got%20the%20majority%20of%20the%20baked%20goodies%20because%20I%20only%20allowed%20myself%20to%20have%20a%20little%20of%20each!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20never%20had%20steamed%20fresh%20artichoke%20before.%20%20I%20saw%20they%20had%20them%20in%20the%20grocery%20store%20on%20sale,%20so%20I%20grabbed%20a%20couple%20and%20decided%20I%20would%20try%20them%20while%20Grumpy%20was%20gone.%20%20I%20am%20ever%20so%20glad%20that%20I%20did!%20%20I%20now%20know%20why%20they%20are%20loved%20by%20so%20many!%20%20If%20you%20haven't%20tried%20one%20or%20have%20been%20afraid%20to%20make%20one%20because%20it%20seems%20complicated....don't%20hesitate%20any%20longer!%20%20I%20ate%20both%20and%20loved%20every%20bite!%20%20I%20wasn't%20hard%20in%20any%20way!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESteamed%20Artichoke%20with%20Lemon%20Butter%20Garlic%20Sauce%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EServes%201%20person%20(at%20least%20it%20did%20in%20my%20home!)%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20prepare%20the%20artichokes,%20with%20kitchen%20scissors,%20trim%20the%20thorned%20tips%20of%20all%20the%20leaves.%20%20Cut%20about%203/4%22%20off%20the%20top.%20%20Remove%20any%20of%20the%20smaller%20outer%20leaves%20near%20the%20stem%20and%20cut%20the%20stem%20%20so%20you%20can%20stand%20the%20artichoke%20up%20on%20its%20own.%20%20Spread%20the%20leaves%20apart%20some%20and%20rinse%20well%20with%20cold%20water.%20%20%20Place%20in%20a%20saucepan%20(I%20used%20a%20small%20one%20big%20enough%20to%20house%20just%20the%20two%20artichokes)%20along%20with%20crushed%20garlic%20and%20lemon%20slice.%20%20Bring%20to%20a%20boil%20and%20steam%20approximately%2025-30%20minutes,%20or%20until%20leaves%20are%20tender%20and%20pull%20away%20easily.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMelt%201%20tablespoon%20butter%20with%201%20minced%20garlic%20clove.%20%20Add%20lemon%20juice%20to%20melted%20butter%20and%20stir.%20%20Pull%20leaves%20from%20artichoke,%20dip%20in%20butter,%20and%20drag%20leaf%20through%20your%20teeth%20scraping%20the%20pulp%20from%20the%20leaf.%20%20YUM!%20%20When%20you%20have%20removed%20and%20eaten%20the%20pulp%20of%20the%20leaves,%20make%20sure%20that%20you%20remove%20the%20fuzzy%20choke%20part%20and%20discard.%20%20You%20can%20then%20eat%20the%20heart.%20%20I%20read%20that%20some%20people%20will%20trim%20the%20outer%20layers%20of%20the%20stem%20and%20eat%20the%20tender%20inside...I%20myself%20did%20not%20do%20that.%20%20I%20thought%20it%20was%20a%20little%20bitter%20when%20tasting.%20%20There%20are%20several%20articles%20on%20how%20to%20cook%20an%20artichoke%20along%20with%20several%20suggestions%20for%20dipping-%20I%20will%20definitely%20be%20making%20these%20again%20and%20hope%20I%20can%20convince%20Grumpy%20to%20try%20them%20too!%20%20A%20great%20special%20treat!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
