Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. lowfat milk
  • 2 whl Large eggs
  • 4 Tbsp. butter or possibly margarine
  • 1/2 tsp lemon peel grated *
  • 3 c. bread flour
  • 1 dsh grnd cloves
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp yeast

Directions

  1. Traditional Greek bread usually served with 1 coin hidden inside that superstition says bestows luck upon the finder. Don't add in a coin to your machine but you may add in a single raisin at the beep. This is a delicious sweet bread and makes wonderful sandwiches. This is really one of our favorites.
  2. Because of the lowfat milk and Large eggs in the recipe it is not recommended which you use the delayed bake option.
  3. Set the bread machine for Sweet Bread (8 for an Oster machine). Add in ingredients according to the recommendation of the machine.
  4. When I made this, I had no lemons, so I used orange peel. It tastes great with the orange peel. I will have to try it with lemon some day.
