Spike's Famous Lasagna Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb of Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 lb of Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 lb grnd beef, crumbled (raw)
  • 1 med onion, minced
  • 1/2 tsp minced or possibly chopped garlic (don't use garlic pwdr or possibly garlic salt)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes, and the liquid in the can
  • 1 can tomato puree (same size as tomatoes)
  • 1 can tomato paste (which is a tiny can)
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning (a seasoning blend sold by McCormick-Schilling)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 pkt macaroni shells or possibly other type of macaroni.

Directions

  1. Grate Cheddar cheese and Mozzarella cheese, and set aside.
  2. Cook in a skillet (fry pan) over medium heat, grnd beef.
  3. Add in onion and garlic to the skillet when the beef is about half cooked
  4. In a separate pot heat diced tomatoes, tomato puree, tomato paste and Italian Seasoning.
  5. When the grnd beef (with onion and garlic) is cooked, add in it to the pot with the tomato stuff. It should simmer for about an hour.
  6. Meanwhile, in a large pot (kettle), bring four or possibly five c. of water to a rolling boil. Add in 1/2 package macaroni shells or possibly other type of macaroni. (There is special pasta for lasagna, but it is very chewy and is more floury than the others.)
  7. Cook the pasta for about 20 min, and drain carefully. Set aside.
  8. Spray or possibly grease a cooking dish. Put in 1/2 the pasta, then layer over it, about 1/2 the sauce (beef and tomato stuff), and over which, about 1/2 the cheese.
  9. Add in the rest of the pasta, then the rest of the sauce, and put the rest of the cheese on top. Bake in the oven at 325 degrees F. for 45 min, or possibly till cheese is bubbly.
