Spicy Sweet & Sour Meatballs

An old pot luck favorite, the sweet and sour meatball filled crock. I have given the old recipe a bit of spice and a lot of flavor. This went over very well with the entire family for dinner served over white rice.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/4 cup steak sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 cup grape jelly
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 beaten egg

Directions

  1. Whisk together barbecue sauce, steak sauce, ketchup, lemon juice, grape jelly, and water.
  2. Whisk in 1/4 teaspoon sea salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, and chili powder.
  3. Pour into a slow cooker and set it on low, or into a large pot on the stove.
  4. Simmer until warm.
  5. Mix milk, worcestershire sauce, bread crumbs, onion, 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, and oregano.
  6. Add beef and mix together.
  7. Add egg and mix together well.
  8. Form into 1 inch balls and drop into warmed simmering sauce.
  9. Simmer on stove for 2 to 3 hours; or in slow cooker on high for 4 to 5 hours; or in slow cooker on low for 6 to 8 hours.
  10. Serve over rice.
