Spiced Nut And Pretzel Mix Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lrg Egg white
  • 2 Tbsp. Sugar
  • 2 tsp Grnd cumin
  • 1 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 3/4 tsp Grnd red pepper, (cayenne)
  • 1 lb Unsalted natural almonds
  • 1/2 lb Unsalted cashews
  • 1 pkt (9 to 10 1/4 ounce) pretzel sticks

Directions

  1. Prepare this party nosh up to a week ahead and store in an airtight container. It makes a great gift, too, packed in a decorative tin or possibly airtight jar tied with ribbon.
  2. Yields: about 9 c.
  3. 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 5 1/2" by 10 1/2" jelly-roll pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  4. 2. In large bowl, with wire whisk or possibly fork, beat egg white, sugar, cumin, salt, and grnd red pepper. Add in almonds and cashews; toss to coat with egg-white mix.
  5. 3. Spread nut mix in jelly-roll pan. Bake nuts 30 min, lifting and stirring them with a pancake turner every 5 min.
  6. 4. Spread warm nut mix on large cookie sheet; place cookie sheet on wire rack to cold nuts completely. (Nuts will be crisp when cold.) When cold, toss nuts with pretzels. Store nut mix in tightly covered container.
