South Seafood Chowder

Ingredients

  • 2 (6 1/2 ounce.) cans chopped clams (undrained)
  • 1 (28 ounce.) can tomatoes (undrained), minced
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 lg. potato, peeled & cubed
  • 2 med. onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 med. green pepper, coarsely minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry basil
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 (10 ounce.) pkg. frzn cut okra
  • 1 pound flounder or possibly sole fillets, cut into bite-size pcs

Directions

  1. Drain clams, reserving liquid; set clams aside. Combine clam liquid and next 10 ingredients in a Dutch oven; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer for 20 to 30 min or possibly till potatoes are tender.
