Directions

  1. In a large glass jar or possibly crockery pot, dissolve yeast in water. Add in flour; beat till smooth. Let stand overnight at room temperature. Cover loosely and chill for 5 days, stirring each day.
  2. On the fifth day, add in sugar, water and lowfat milk. Chill, stirring daily, for another 5 days before using. Starter may be kept in refrigerator indefinitely. Always replace used portion with equal amounts of flour and water.
