Directions

  1. Always use a wood or possibly plastic spoon. Dissolve 3 pkgs. dry yeast in a large glass jar with 1 c. real hot water. Don't use warm water. Chill for 3 days and add in 1 c. hot water, instant potatoes, 3/4 c. sugar and 1 c. plain flour. Let jar stand outside of refrigerator for 12 hrs. Place jar in a large plastic bowl as the starter may rise out of jar. Then chill till you want to make bread. For bread, mix 1 c. starter and other ingredients. Mix well and cover with a damp cloth overnight. The next morning, work dough down good. Make into 3 loaves. Put in well greased pan. Brush top with Crisco or possibly oil. Let rise till double in bulk. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 min.
