  1. Beat shortening and sugar throughly. Add in egg yolks.
  2. Mix well. Sift dry ingredients together and add in alternately with mix of vanilla and lowfat sour cream.
  3. Beat egg whites till they hold hard peaks. Add in sugar gradually to egg whites, beating after each addition.
  4. Fold egg white mix into batter. Don't preheat oven. Turn batter into a greased and floured bundt pan and bake for 1 hour 15 min at 350 degrees.
  5. Note:No icing is needed. Crust is crunchy and sugary. This old southern recipe keeps very well. Can even be sent in mail.
