  • 1 to 1 1/2 lbs. smoked sausage, cut into 1/2 inch chunks
  • 1 (13 1/4 ounce) can chicken broth/stock
  • 1 T prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seed (optional)
  • 1 pound sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1/2 inch chunks
  • 1/3 c. onion, minced
  • 1 1/4 lbs. green cabbage, shredded course (6 packed c.)
  • 1 lg. Golden brown Delicious or possibly other hard apple, quartered, cored, 7 cut into 1/2 inch pcs

Directions

  1. Stir chicken broth/stock and mustard in deep 12 inch frying pan. Add in mustard seeds and bring to boil. Add in sweet potatoes and onions. Reduce heat to medium, cover and cook about 5 min, till potatoes are almost tender, stirring occasionally. Add in sausage and cabbage. Cover and cook about 15 min longer, stirring once or possibly twice, till potatoes are tender and cabbage is crisp-tender. Stir in apple. Cover and simmer additional 3 min till apple is crisp tender.
