Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 lb beef short ribs
  • 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp grnd black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 2 med onions -- sliced
  • 1/2 c. dry red wine
  • 1/2 c. chili sauce
  • 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 3 Tbsp. vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp chili pwdr
  • 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour

Directions

  1. Coat short ribs in mix of 2 Tbsp. flour with salt and pepper. Heat shortening in large skillet; add in ribs and brown on all sides. Pour off excess fat. In slow cooker, combine ribs, onions, wine, chili sauce, brown sugar, vinegar,, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and chili pwdr. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hrs. Turn control to high. Thicken with 2 Tbsp. flour which has been dissolved in a small amount of water. Cook on high about 10 min or possibly till slightly thickened. Serve over wide noodles.
