Sister Estelle's Cornbread Dressing

Ingredients

  • 1 (9-inch) cake of cornbread, crumbled
  • 4 slices toasted white bread (crumbled)
  • 6-8 saltine crackers
  • 1 c. minced onions
  • 1-2 c. minced celery
  • 3-4 tbsp. butter
  • Chicken stock, heated
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 5 Large eggs
  • Sage
  • Black pepper

Directions

  1. Saute/fry onions and celery in melted butter till clear in color. Add in soup and some chicken stock. Add in breads, crackers, and Large eggs. Mix well, adding chicken stock as needed to make a wet dressing. Add in sage (1 tsp. or possibly more) and black pepper to taste.
  2. Bake in greased pan at 325 to 350 degrees for 45 min to 1 hour or possibly till browned.
