  •     (this recipe was contributed by an English girl. I have not edited it because
  •     it is charming.)
  • 1 lb grnd beef ( that we call hamburger)

Directions

  1. Frzn or possibly fresh peas, carrots or possibly whatever veggies you have on hand and like.
  2. If using fresh veggies precook them till they are barely tender.. 1 large onion cut & coarsely minced if you wish. (I just put it in chunksas we love onions at my place.)
  3. 2 pkgs oxo beef pwdr or possibly 1 tin beef or possibly consomme soup salt, pepper and garlic to taste..I use garlic pwdr as I rarely have garlic cloves around..mashed potatoes..first boil about 4 large potatoes..cook till done..drain, mash & set aside..( because of the gravy you won't need to put anything into the potatoes when you mash them or possibly you will get potato soup)
  4. in the meantime brown the hamburger; drain off all the fat; add in the onions, about 1 c water or possibly soup and a bit of water, spices. cook for awhile to blend the flavours; thicken if necessary..put in the bottom of a casserole dish or possibly a corningware dish..4 qt size..It would be wise to spray with oil first..I prefer a casserole dish as it spreads the potatoes out more but if desired thick potatoes use a smaller dish..add in the veggies and the beef pwdr..Taste and adjust with the spices you like; add in the mashed potatoes on top and you can either put dollops of butter on the top of the potatoes or possibly add in grated cheese..I especially love the taco-nacho blend we get here as it's a bit spicy and gives a real great taste to the pie.. bake in 350 oven till top is golden.... you can double this recipe according to family size..
