Sardine Puffs

I had 5 sheets of frozen puff pastry and decided to create a tasty sardine snack. It is easy to make and would be a big hit at picnics or for tea-break.

Ingredients

  • 5 square shapes frozen puff pastry
  • 1 tin sardines - drain liquid, remove bones and mash it
  • 1/2 onion - chopped
  • 1 green chily - chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 lime
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp melted butter - for brushing

Directions

  1. Add the chopped ingredients onto the mashed sardines. Add salt and mix.
  2. Heat oil and stir-fry the above adding the chilli powder for extra spice and flavours.
  3. Turn off stove and squeeze the lime juice and give it a mix.
  4. Let the mixture cool and scoop into the individual puff pastry sheets and roll.
  5. Brush the melted butter over the pastries and bake at 190 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until the pastries appear light golden.
