Salmon steaks in white sauce

Crispy coated salmon steaks with flavorful white sauce

Ingredients

  • 700 g trout - salmon steaks
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup corn flour
  • 1/4 cup corn meal
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper
  • 1/2tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup peanut oil (or some other fat)
  • 2 tbs butter
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp lemon juice

Directions

  1. Marinate fish steaks in the milk for 20 minutes.
  2. Mix corn flour, corn meal, salt and pepper in a separate bowl.
  3. Coat fish steaks throughout with flour - cornmeal mixture.
  4. Place fish steakes in the hot peanut oil in a frying pan,.
  5. Fry steaks over medium heat for 3-5 minutes on one side, then 3-5 minutes on the other side until crisp and golden. Place the steaks on a hot serving platter.
  6. Pour off the fat from the pan and replace with butter. Add the sour cream, stir to loosen any dredgings.
  7. Cook for about 5-10 minutes, but do not boil.
  8. Remove the sauce from heat, add the lemon juice and stir; pour over the fish and serve with side dish of boiled potatoes and chard.
