Much better than the traditional "cookie." Love this grown-up version. This is the perfect time of the year for this warm, nostalgic treat.
,%20but%20they%20will%20take%20store%20bought.%20%20These%20bars%20reminded%20me%20more%20of%20a%20chocolate%20play%20on%20rice%20krispie%20granola%20bars%20than%20S%E2%80%99Mores,%20but%20given%20that%20they%20were%20received%20with%20approval%20I%20am%20sharing%20them%20anyway.%20%20Personally,%20the%20best%20part%20of%20the%20S%E2%80%99More%20bar%20for%20me%20is%20the%20graham%20cracker,%20so%20I%20will%20definitely%20keep%20searching.%20%20I%20tried%20crushing%20graham%20crackers%20into%20the%20base%20of%20these%20bars,%20but%20the%20flavor%20was%20lost%20so%20next%20time%20I%20would%20stick%20with%20the%20oats%20and%20rice%20cereal,%20which%20is%20how%20I%20have%20written%20the%20recipe%20below.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ES%E2%80%99More%20Granola%20Bars%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20the%20oven%20to%20425%20F.%20Line%20a%20half-sheet%20(the%20rimmed%20baking%20sheet%20you%20probably%20use%20for%20cookies,%2018X13%20inches)%20with%20foil%20and%20grease%20the%20foil.%20%20Set%20aside.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELightly%20toast%20the%20oats%20and%20then%20dump%20into%20a%20large%20mixing%20bowl.%20%20Mix%20in%20the%20Rice%20Krispies.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIf%20you%20have%20a%20kid%20helping,%20be%20sure%20to%20have%20them%20out%20of%20the%20way%20for%20the%20next%20step%E2%80%93boiling%20sugar%20will%20seriously%20burn.%20%20Combine%20the%20sugar,%20butter,%20water,%20light%20corn%20syrup%20and%20salt%20in%20a%20large%20saucepan.%20%20Bring%20to%20a%20boil%20with%20a%20candy%20thermometer%20attached%20to%20the%20pot.%20%20Boil%20for%205-10%20minutes,%20until%20the%20the%20mixture%20reaches%20250F.%20%20Pour%20it%20over%20the%20mixed%20cereal%20and%20toss%20to%20combine.%20%20Add%201%201/2%20cups%20of%20the%20miniature%20marshmallows%20and%20toss%20to%20combine%20those.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPress%20the%20mixture%20into%20the%20prepared%20pan.%20%20I%20used%20a%20sheet%20of%20parchment%20paper%20which%20worked%20really%20well.%20%20Sprinkle%20with%20the%20remaining%20marshmallows%20and%20the%20chocolate%20chips%20(here%20is%20where%20your%20child%20can%20start%20helping%20again!).%20%20Sprinkle%20with%20the%20coarse%20grey%20sea%20salt%20to%20taste.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBake%20the%20bars%20for%204-5%20minutes,%20until%20the%20marshmallows%20puff%20up%20and%20get%20that%20awesome%20toasty%20color%20you%20associate%20with%20marshmallows%20roasting%20over%20a%20fire.%20%20Remove%20and%20let%20cool%20for%2010%20minutes.%20%20Cut%20the%20bars%20while%20they%20are%20still%20a%20little%20warm%E2%80%93it%20will%20be%20sticky%20and%20messy%20probably%20no%20matter%20what%20unless%20you%20are%20a%20lot%20more%20talented%20than%20me!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
