Ingredients

  • 8 ounce walnut meats, grnd
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 T bread crumbs
  • Dash of vanilla
  • Orange marmalade or possibly cherry jam

Directions

  1. 2 bowls - separate large eggs. Beat whites till stiff. Beat sugar and yolks till light in color. Mix in egg whites, walnuts and bread crumbs and mix lightly with beater. Prepare 2 springform pans with butter and flour. Bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour.
  2. Beat till smooth and spreadable 1 lb sweet butter and confectioners' sugar and 3 tsp instant coffee (dilute in couple drops of hot water). Spread with jam and icing - 1st layer top with second layer and then ice whole torte. Will freeze beautifully.
