Directions

  1. Hot shortening, sugar and lowfat milk in saucepan till shortening is melted. Add in mashed potatoes and cold.
  2. Dissolve yeast in 2 Tbsp. hot water and add in to beaten Large eggs. Add in this to the first mix. Sift 4 c. flour with baking pwdr, soda, and salt. Stir liquid mixtureinto these dry ingredients. Put into large bowl and let rise in hot surroundings to twice bulk. This is a sponge. Cover overnight with light cloth. The next morning add in remaining 2 c. of sifted flour to the sponge and knead till satiny. Put the dough in a greased bowl and let rise in hot surroundings.
  3. Knead on lightly floured board. Form into rolls, Place these rolls on a greased pan and let stand 5 min in hot surroundings till double in size. Bake 15 min at 425 degrees.
