%20start%20reintegrating%20gluten%20and%20dairy.%20%20My%20doctor%20thinks%20I%20am%20sensitive%20to%20one%20of%20the%20two%20and%20I%20need%20to%20%22cleanse%22%20my%20system%20more%20before%20I%20nosh%20on%20a%20hunk%20of%20bread%20or%20block%20of%20cheese.%20%20While%20I%20wouldn't%20call%20my%20current%20diet%20ideal,%20not%20being%20able%20to%20have%20dairy%20hasn't%20been%20too%20hard.%20%20I've%20known%20for%20a%20while%20I'm%20lactose%20intolerant.%20%20I%20mean,%20haven't%20you%20noticed%20that%2099.9%25%20of%20my%20recipes%20use%20a%20milk%20substitute?%20%20But%20what%20has%20been%20hard%20is%20finding%20a%20soy%20ice%20cream%20without%20brown%20rice%20syrup.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EYou'd%20think%20having%20the%20word%20rice%20in%20the%20name%20would%20mean%20it%20was%20gluten%20free.%20%20You'd%20be%20wrong.%20%20It's%20one%20of%20those%20sneaky%20glutenous%20ingredients.%20%20So,%20if%20I%20can't%20buy%20it%20I'll%20make%20it!%20%20I%20had%20some%20pears%20that%20were%20at%20the%20edge%20of%20being%20over%20ripe%20and%20a%20craving%20for%20some%20ice%20cream.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhen%20you%20make%20this%20ice%20cream%20(which%20I%20highly%20recommend)%20make%20sure%20you%20set%20aside%20a%20chuck%20a%20time.%20%20While%20not%20being%20labor%20intensive,%20there%20is%20a%20lot%20of%20down%20time.%20%20At%20least%20at%20the%20end%20of%20it%20all,%20your%20house%20will%20smell%20like%20roasted%20pears,%20toasted%20pecans%20and%20you%20will%20be%20snacking%20on%20some%20freshly%20turned%20ice%20cream.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ERoasted%20Pear%20and%20Toasted%20Pecan%20Ice%20Cream%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdapted%20from%20Kitchen%20Wench%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIngredients%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EDirections%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPreheat%20your%20oven%20to%20180%20degrees%20C.%20Core%20pears%20and%20cut%20into%20quarters%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ELine%20them%20on%20a%20baking%20tray%20with%20the%20inner%20side%20up%20and%20bake%20for%20approximately%201%20hour,%20or%20till%20a%20knife%20can%20be%20inserted%20into%20the%20thickest%20segment%20with%20no%20resistance.%20Set%20aside%20and%20allow%20the%20roasted%20pears%20to%20cool.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWhile%20the%20pears%20are%20roasting,%20combine%20the%20coconut%20and%20almond%20milk%20with%20the%20brown%20sugar%20and%20cinnamon%20in%20a%20pot%20and%20stir%20over%20a%20low%20heat%20till%20the%20sugar%20is%20completely%20dissolved.%20When%20the%20sugar%20has%20dissolved,%20set%20the%20mixture%20aside%20for%2030%20minutes%20to%20allow%20the%20cinnamon%20to%20infuse.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EOnce%20the%20roasted%20pears%20are%20cool,%20gently%20mash%20them%20with%20a%20fork%20and%20if%20you%20like,%20puree%20with%20an%20immersion%20blender.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAdd%20the%20mashed%20pear%20to%20the%20cream%20and%20stir%20thoroughly%20to%20combine.%20Place%20the%20mixture%20in%20the%20fridge%20for%20at%20least%201%20hour%20or%20till%20chilled,%20then%20pour%20into%20your%20ice%20cream%20maker%20and%20follow%20the%20manufacturer%E2%80%99s%20directions.%20Once%20the%20mixture%20begins%20to%20transform%20from%20liquid%20to%20ice%20cream,%20add%20in%20the%20toasted%20pecans.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
