Rice Cooker Gluten Free Pancakes - Say what?
We have some of the best followers! Steph, on of our Facebook followers mentioned that she makes her pancakes in the rice cooker. Rice cooker? Yes a rice cooker! I thought, what a fabulous idea for families. My daughter absolutely requires our attention (because she is such Princess), so I thought this would be a great way to not have to stand around the stove and be able to play with my daughter for a bit in the morning. ,%20so%20I%20thought%20this%20would%20be%20a%20great%20way%20to%20not%20have%20to%20stand%20around%20the%20stove%20and%20be%20able%20to%20play%20with%20my%20daughter%20for%20a%20bit%20in%20the%20morning.%20%20Here%20is%20Steph's%20guest%20blog%20post.%20%20Can't%20wait%20to%20try%20this!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EMaking%20a%20pancake%20using%20your%20rice%20cooker%20honestly%20couldn't%20be%20more%20simple.%20Throw%20in%20your%20favourite%20gluten%20free%20mix%20and%20it's%20really%20a%20no%20fuss%20meal.%20You%20may%20have%20to%20adjust%20timing%20depending%20on%20your%20own%20rice%20cooker%20but%20I%20used%20a%20pretty%20standard%20on/off%20tiger%20model%20and%20still%20had%20tasty%20success.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EFor%20my%20batter%20I%20used%20Bisquick%20%20but%20feel%20free%20to%20use%20your%20favourite%20recipe%20or%20mix%20following%20the%20directions%20on%20the%20package.%20I%20chose%20to%20mix%20it%20in%20a%20separate%20bowl%20just%20to%20protect%20the%20non%20stick%20coating.%20Once%20your%20batter%20is%20in%20the%20rice%20cooker%20pan%20all%20you%20have%20to%20do%20is%20close%20the%20lid%20&%20switch%20it%20onto%20%22rice%20cook%22.%20The%20rice%20cooker%20heats%20up%20very%20quickly%20and%20will%20switch%20to%20the%20%22keep%20warm%22%20setting%20within%20about%205%20minutes%20or%20less%20depending%20on%20the%20amount%20of%20batter.%20This%20allows%20the%20pancake%20to%20get%20nice%20and%20golden%20without%20burning.%20I%20left%20the%20lid%20closed%20for%20about%2010%20minutes%20and%20when%20I%20checked%20it%20was%20ready%20to%20go.%20You%20can%20tell%20if%20yours%20is%20ready%20by%20just%20lightly%20pressing%20the%20pancake,%20once%20it's%20done%20it%20will%20feel%20slightly%20firm.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESlide%20it%20out%20onto%20a%20plate%20or%20cutting%20board%20and%20then%20it's%20ready%20to%20be%20sliced%20and%20served.%20I%20find%20this%20method%20keeps%20the%20pancakes%20moist%20and%20fluffy%20as%20long%20as%20they%20are%20served%20right%20away.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EWe%20had%20ours%20for%20dinner%20and%20served%20our%20pancake%20slices%20with%20some%20gluten%20free%20sausage%20rounds%20(johnsonville)%20as%20well%20as%20some%20fresh%20strawberries.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI've%20had%20success%20mixing%20in%20chocolate%20chips,%20swirls%20of%20Nutella,%20fruit,%20nuts%20and%20anything%20you%20can%20think%20of%20to%20the%20batter.%20So%20the%20base%20instructions%20are%20open%20for%20a%20lot%20of%20creativity.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EHope%20you%20enjoy%20and%20feel%20free%20to%20share%20any%20mix%20in%20creations%20you%20find%20work%20well!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
