Ingredients
- 1/2 teaspoons butter, for greasing cake pan
- 8 oz. rich tea biscuits (I used Walker's Shortbread cookies)
- 4 oz. butter, softened
- 4 oz. granulated sugar
- 4 oz. good quality dark chocolate, for the cake
- 1 egg
- 8 oz. dark chocolate, for coating
- whipped cream for serving, optional

,%20long%20ago,%20said,%20%22Let%20them%20eat%20cake!%22%20they%20were%20referring%20to%20his%20little%20beauty!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EBroken%20pieces%20of%20shortbread%20biscuits/cookies,%20combined%20with%20dark%20chocolate,%20butter,%20sugar%20and%20egg...what's%20not%20to%20love?%20%20Op's%20kindly%20posted%20Chef%20McGrady's%20recipe%20on%20her%20website%20and%20there%20were%20many%20comments%20about%20how%20this%20cake%20is%20unsafe...because%20it%20is%20not%20baked%20and%20there%20is%20an%20egg%20in%20it.%20%20People,%20people,%20people...unless%20you%20let%20your%20eggs%20sit%20in%20the%20pantry%20(like%20the%20Aussie!!!)%20or%20buy%20old%20eggs,%20or%20you're%20elderly,%20infirmed%20or%20pregnant,%20or%20you%20live%20in%20a%20bubble%20because%20you're%20allergic%20to%20everything,%20then%20one%20little%20raw%20egg%20is%20not%20going%20to%20hurt%20you!%20%20But,%20if%20you're%20a%20germaphobe%20or%20have%20issues%20with%20raw%20egg,%20then%20sad%20to%20say,%20no%20cake%20for%20you!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EAfter%20everything%20is%20mixed,%20the%20batter%20is%20spooned%20into%20a%206-inch%20cake%20pan.%20%20(Chef%20McGrady%20said%20to%20use%20one%20with%20removeable%20sides,%20like%20a%20spring-form%20pan,%20but%20I%20don't%20own%20a%206-inch%20spring-form%20pan%20so%20I%20lightly%20greased%20a%20cake%20pan%20and%20when%20it%20came%20time%20to%20remove%20the%20cake%20I%20dipped%20the%20bottom%20of%20it%20in%20hot%20water%20for%20just%20a%20second%20and%20the%20cake%20released%20beautifully.)%20%20The%20cake%20is%20then%20refrigerated%20for%20three%20hours%20until%20the%20chocolate%20is%20set.%20%20And%20when%20the%20cake%20is%20set,%20it%20gets%20a%20second%20coating%20of%20chocolate...melted%20chocolate%20is%20poured%20over%20the%20top%20of%20the%20cake%20and%20smoothed%20around%20the%20sides...then%20the%20cake%20is%20left%20to%20set%20at%20room%20temperature,%20this%20takes%20about%2020%20minutes...then%20it's%20ready%20to%20eat!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EThis%20is%20really%20a%20very%20easy%20recipe%20-%20and%20a%20fun%20little%20cake%20to%20serve.%20%20Just%20remember%20to%20use%20really,%20really%20good%20tasting%20chocolate,%20because%20that's%20really%20what%20you'll%20be%20eating.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPrince%20Williams'%20Biscuit%20Cake%20~%20Adapted%20(barely)%20From%20Chef%20Darren%20McGrady%20via%20Oprah.com%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20make%20cake:%20Lightly%20butter%20a%206%22x2%22%20cake%20pan%20or%20spring-form%20pan.%20%20If%20using%20a%20spring-form%20pan,%20place%20on%20a%20tray%20covered%20with%20a%20piece%20of%20parchment%20paper.%20%20Break%20each%20of%20the%20biscuits/cookies%20into%20almond-size%20pieces%20by%20hand%20and%20set%20aside.%20%20Cream%20the%20butter%20and%20sugar%20in%20a%20bowl%20until%20the%20mixture%20starts%20to%20lighten.%20Melt%20the%204%20ounces%20of%20dark%20chocolate%20(in%20a%20microwave%20heat%20in%20at%2030%20second%20intervals%20and%20stirring%20in%20between%20until%20chocolate%20is%20smooth)%20and%20add%20to%20the%20butter%20mixture%20while%20constantly%20stirring.%20%20Beat%20the%20egg%20into%20the%20mixture.%20%20Fold%20in%20the%20biscuit%20pieces%20until%20they%20are%20all%20coated%20with%20the%20chocolate%20mixture.%20%20Spoon%20the%20mixture%20into%20the%20prepared%20cake%20pan/ring.%20Try%20to%20fill%20all%20of%20the%20gaps%20on%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20pan/ring%20because%20this%20will%20be%20the%20top%20when%20it%20is%20unmolded.%20%20Chill%20the%20cake%20in%20the%20refrigerator%20for%20at%20least%203%20hours.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20coat%20and%20decorate:%20Remove%20the%20cake%20from%20the%20refrigerator%20and%20let%20it%20stand%20while%20you%20melt%20the%208%20ounces%20of%20dark%20chocolate%20in%20the%20microwave.%20%20Slide%20the%20ring%20off%20the%20cake%20and%20turn%20it%20upside%20down%20onto%20a%20cooling%20rack%20with%20paper%20underneath.%20If%20you%20used%20a%20pan,%20dip%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20pan%20in%20hot%20water%20for%20just%20a%20second%20and%20then%20invert%20onto%20a%20rack%20with%20paper%20underneath.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EPour%20all%20but%20about%202%20tablespoons%20of%20the%20melted%20chocolate%20over%20the%20cake%20(excess%20will%20drip%20through%20wire%20rack%20onto%20the%20paper%20underneath)%20and%20smooth%20the%20top%20and%20sides%20using%20a%20palette%20knife.%20%20Allow%20the%20chocolate%20to%20set%20at%20room%20temperature.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ECarefully%20run%20a%20knife%20around%20the%20bottom%20of%20the%20cake%20where%20the%20chocolate%20has%20stuck%20to%20the%20cake%20rack%20and%20lift%20it%20onto%20a%20tea%20plate.%20%20Drizzle%20remaining%202%20tablespoons%20of%20chocolate%20over%20top%20of%20cake%20to%20decorate.%20%20Cut%20into%20small%20wedges%20and%20serve.%20%20Serves%208.%20%20Serve%20with%20whipped%20cream%20if%20desired.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
