  • 1 med. sized possom
  • 5 gallons water
  • 2 handfuls hardwood ashes
  • 1/2 c. salt
  • 1/2 dozen med. sized sweet potatoes
  • Pepperidge Farm stuffing mix


  1. Feed lettuce and table scraps to caged possom for 5 days. Break his neck by stepping on neck and yanking tail till neck snaps. Boil 5 gallons of water and put possom and ashes in water. Scrape off hair with knife, don't skin! Soak possom overnight in cool water and salt. Stuff possom with dressing. Place in a roaster with a little water. Cook 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hrs. Add in sweet potatoes to roasting pot, slice as you would a pig and serve.
