I got this recipe on a trip to New Orleans.
For a pork dish that's "not like the rest". Uses basic, old fashion bacon grease, It's a keeper!

Ingredients

  • 6 center cut pork chops with filets 3/4" thick
  • Seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 large sweet onions, sliced in thin rings
  • 6 tablespoon sherry
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • garlic salt

Directions

  1. Sprinkle garlic salt on pork chops
  2. Coat them in seasoned bread crumbs
  3. Brown in bacon fat
  4. Dissolve bouillon cube in boiling water
  5. Add sherry, soy sauce, and sugar to the dissolved bouillon
  6. Add to chops
  7. Simmer covered for 1 - 1.5 hours
  8. Turn once
  9. If desired, thicken the sauce with a little flour before serving with rice or a potato dish
