Directions

  1. Combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt in heavy saucepan. Stir over low heat till sugar is dissolved. Cook over medium heat to hard cracked stage (300 degrees). Meanwhile, spread the popcorn, nuts, and cherries in a buttered 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1 inch pan and heat in 350 degree oven for 10 min. Remove syrup from heat; quickly stir in butter and vanilla till butter melts. Pour over popcorn mix; stir to coat all pcs. Spread thin on flat surface. Cold. Break into pcs. Makes 1 1/4 pounds.
