Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. hot water (105 to 115 degrees)
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3 1/2 to 4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon rum
  • 3/4 c. hot lowfat milk (105 to 115 degrees)
  • Fine dry bread crumbs
  • Confectioners' sugar

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in hot water. Set aside for 5 min. Cream butter and sugar in mixing bowl. Add in egg yolks, 1 1/2 c. flour and mix thoroughly. Add in yeast mix, salt, vanilla and rum. Add in lowfat milk and sufficient remaining flour to create a soft dough.
  2. Knead on lightly floured surface till smooth - about 10 min. Place in greased bowl, turning to coat top. Cover; let rise in hot place till double - about 1 hour.
  3. Punch down dough. Generously grease 10-inch bundt pan. Lightly coat pan with crumbs. Put dough into prepared pan. Cover let rise in hot place till double about 45 min.
  4. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 45 min or possibly till done. Cold in pan on wire rack 10 min. Then remove from pan. Cold on rack. Sprinkle with confectioners' sugar before serving.
