Ingredients

  • 1 pound Italian style fresh sausage
  • 1 loaf (1 pound) French or possibly Italian bread, unsliced
  • 1 c. Italian tomato sauce
  • 1/2 pound mozzarella cheese, shredded

Directions

  1. Crumble sausage into skillet. Cook over medium heat, stirring, till sausage is no longer pink. Drain. Split the brad horizontally, lengthwise but don't cut it all the way through, just so which it hinges open. Spoon pizza sauce over the cut surface of the bread. Top with the cooked sausage sprinkle the cheese evenly over it.Close the bread sandwich style. Wrap in foil. Bake at 350 degrees till heated through and cheese is melted, 15-20 min, in either the oven of the side of the charcoal grill as cook other things. To serve, unwrap and cut into thick slices.
