Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 T vinegar
- 1 c. lowfat milk
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 c. cocoa pwdr
- 1 c. warm water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla

- Grease bottoms of 3 (8-inch) layer cake pans. Measure sifted flour, baking soda and salt into sifter. Stir vinegar into lowfat milk in cup; set aside.Cream shortening till soft in large bowl. Gradually add in sugar, creaming well after each addition. Beat in large eggs, one at a time. Blend in cocoa pwdr. Sift flour, soda and salt into creamed mix, adding alternately with soured lowfat milk; blend after each addition till batter is smooth. Stir in hot water and vanilla.
- Pour into prepared pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 min. Cool cake after baking and frost with chocolate cream frosting.
