Ingredients

  • 1 can Beer, (12 ounce.)
  • 1 tsp Caraway seed
  • 4 x Fresh bratwurst
  • 1 can Sauerkraut, liquid removed (8 ounce.)
  • 1/4 c. Minced red or possibly green bell pepper
  • 4 x Brat or possibly warm dog buns, split

Directions

  1. GRILL DIRECTIONS: Heat grill. In medium saucepan or possibly skillet, combine beer and caraway seed. Prick bratwurst with fork several times; add in to beer mix. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 10 to 15 min or possibly till bratwurst are no longer pink. Remove bratwurst from beer mix. Add in liquid removed sauerkraut and bell pepper to beer mix; heat till warm. When ready to grill, place bratwurst on gas grill over medium heat or possibly on charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals; cover grill. Cook 4 to 6 min or possibly till golden, turning frequently.
  2. Place buns, cut side down, on grill. Cook 1 to 2 min or possibly till buns are lightly toasted. Place bratwurst in buns. Using slotted spoon, spoon sauerkraut on top of bratwurst.
  3. Note: To broil, place bratwurst and buns on broiler pan; broil 4 to 6 inches from heat using times above as a guide.
  4. NOTES : For a richer beer flavor, use a heartier dark ale or possibly stout.
